Churches get involved and volunteer in the community to represent Jesus, and to make His name known by sharing His love and compassion. Believing that serving God includes serving people, churches can be "the hands and feet of Jesus" to those in need. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Individuals who volunteer often feel invigorated with a sense of purpose and optimism when they know they are making a direct difference to those who are in need. Other added benefits are getting outside of daily routines, meeting new people and developing new skills or building on existing experience and knowledge that would not have been possible in a work environment. Perhaps even discovering a new passion!

Businesses, Service Clubs and groups Volunteering for project not only help those in need but also give teams a chance to get to strengthen interpersonal relationships and can often provides a fresh perspective on team productivity. Taking time to give back communicates that organizations value the community even when it has no monetary value.

Students from brick and mortar schools and homeschool who volunteer often gain an increased sense of self esteem, build relationships with others serving alongside them. This can become a great way for them to grow in character and develop new skills. It may even extend to letters of recommendation for paying jobs and college applications. With a wide range of volunteer opportunities they gain exposure to various working conditions.
